more easily serviced. If I were you I would put a J type in your TR-4. They

Sure, it can be done. I put a J-type in a 71 TR6. But it requires a minor
modification to the frame and a full custom rear mount assembly. Not
exactly a bolt-in nor for those without access to some steel fabrication
equipment.
I have since changed out my frame for one from a 73.
