Another approach is to buy (or have) a compression gauge of the type that
has a flexible hose between a screw-in spark plug fitting, and the gauge
body. Remove the Schrader valve from the fitting, and unscrew the hose from
the gauge, then adapt the hose end to an air line quick connect. If you
want, you could then even put a mating quick connect on the gauge, for an
instant conversion (although you'll have to replace the Schrader valve to
get an accurate compression reading).
