A sway bar CAN be added; however, no-one I was able to find sells
ready-made mounting brackets for it. The end links are the same as
3A, but the frame brackets are not.
The ADDCO bar for a 3A will get you close; however, the included
frame mounting brackets won't work as they're intended to attach to
the 3A's beefy bumper brackets. I'm told by a few 3A owners that the
brackets aren't that well-designed anyway.
What I am planning on doing with my small-mouth is using some large
angle iron to fabricate small frame extensions (basically) that I
will bolt onto the frame between the frame and the bumper brackets.
The angle iron will extend out a few inches, and will be cut, bent,
and welded at the end so as to form a stronger piece than angle iron
in its original shape. Basically, the side will be cut at an angle,
the bottom folded up to meet it, and the seam welded.
A fellow lister and Des Moinesian, Chuck McGuire, saw brackets like
I'm trying to describe on a TR2 in Australia, and fellow lister
Michael Andrews sent me a great drawing which I am unfortunately
unable to locate at the moment.
I will probably use Spit 1500 front sway bar fasteners, as they are
much more compact than the ADDCO-included bits.
HTH -- and if this explanation does not make sense, I can try to be
more concise.
