Sorry for reposting, if this already has hit the list, but I didn't see
it...

Seeking the collective wisdom of the list experts...
I had my 25 year old son with me for a ride today, and - being my own flesh
and blood - trusted him to drive for a while.
As he is only used to "modern" cars, he immediately got the car into
"kangaroo-mode" by letting go of the clutch to quickly. The car only made 2
such jumps - after that he had no problems.
When we came to a full stop and put the car in first gear, we could hear a
distinct knocking, which seems to come from the back of the propeller shaft.
The knocking is even stronger in reverse. In second, third and fourth gear
there is no knocking at all. Further the knocking ONLY comes when the car is
in motion and the clutch is fully released.
Any ideas of what have gone wrong - and ideas of how to fix it - would be
GREATLY appreciated.
