Listers,

Certainly V8's have a slightly uneven sound at low revs, as do V4's and
V6's, but they can all sound grand in the right equipment with a sympathetic
exhaust system. The Triumph Stag can sound rather good. (LBC content.)

IMHO tho' the greatest sound made by an internal combustion engine comes
from the V12 aero engines which don't have a silencing system at all.

Anyone who has heard an Avro Lancaster bomber with 4 RR Merlins either on
the ground or flying past must surely agree tht this is truly a wonderful
sound. A formation of Spitfires or Hurricanes produces the same result.

Putting on flameproof flying suit now,

David Brister.
