The seats in my 65 4A needed some work. Nothing major but rips and a bit of a
bend. I looked at the catalogs and saw the reupholstery kits were -- what, 3
or 4 hundred? I took the seats out and went to a local (a little seedy
looking) auto reupholstery shop. Result - both seats straightened and the
ripped parts recovered. The center areas were fine but the backs and piping
and front edges were all done to match the parts that weren't. Price - $65
total. For both. And they look great. And I didn't even have to do the work.
So give a local shop a try that doesn't feel itself a specialist in foreign
car work. You might get a pleasant surprise like I did.
