This clicking sound could be any number of things. It could be worn wheel
bearings, loose shock mounts or bushings, a bad u-joint, wear in the spider
gears or ring and pinion inside the diff, bad trailing arm bushes - there's
a lot of moving parts back there. Get the back end up in the air, and start
poking around.

If the sound seems more towards the center of the car, you could have cracked
the diff mounting pins away from the frame. Fixing these is a pain. Well,
unless you enjoy welding in tight, low visibility situations while upside
down. In truth the best way to fix it is a simple recipe:

1. Remove body from frame
2. Remove diff
3. Weld cracks in frame where mounting pins used to be attached.
4. If desired, weld in reinforcing box pieces so the next time your diff
mounts perish, the diff doesn't flex the frame bits so badly when it
    starts flopping around.
5. Inspect the rame rails where the trailing arm mounts are located, another
problem area on the IRS Triumph frames. Repair as needed.
6. Replace body on frame.

Enumeration of the steps is easy, execution is not.
