Hi Eric!

I am quite sure they are a standard thread.  Maybe, just maybe, a late car 
might have metric threads..  I replaced mine (on several cars) with socket head 
cap screws - and they were definitely imperial measurement.  Maybe you just 
need to "force it" a bit (bigger TR tool #1a?) or chase the threads with a tap
