Hi Gary,
I made a tool just for this type of situation. I made mine using a spare
oil pressure guage, a new replacement hose for a grease gun and a couple
of fittings to connect the whole deal. It's durable, flexible and serves
the purpose quite well.
Good luck and hope it's your guage,

My question is.......is there a way to check pressure straight from the
engine somehow??? bypassing the guage to see if the guage is sticking?
or anything else to check??
