>Hello everyone. I put a new stainless exhaust on my 74 TR6. It went
right
on with no major problems, but when I started the car, exhaust air was
escaping from the slits on the pipes. The ends of the pipes are well
inside
and using the standard triumph muffler clamps the air would escape through
the slits. Anybody have this problem. Might the pipes run in where there
would be any air escaping. Should I try stronger clamps. Thanks in
advance.

Harry, most muffler shops use a pipe sealant (refractory paste) on these
connections just for this reason. There is little you can do about it but
don't be too concerned about it since only a little bit of exhaust is
leaking out and it is under the car and underway it represents no threat.
Mine does the same thing.

Cheers

Dave
