Dear Listers
I have completed the conversion of my 1967 TR4A to electric cooling.
After 200 miles or so in this climate the electric fan has yet to start
up on the road! At 1500 rpm stationary it will cut in for about a minute
when the
temperature gauge gets to the k of "made in uk". It cuts out when the
needle is just to the left of the u but continues to cool for a few more
minutes before the cycle starts again. The mod seems to have improved
fuel consumption by about 2mpg. The fan is very powerful and effective.
Thanks to Jean Rouleau for suggesting the BX Citroen fan and to Randall
and others
for advice on harmonics.
For anyone who may be thinking of doing this, I've done a little write
up which
I will send off list if requested.
Informative, instructive, in-your-faceive, (occasionally) offensive,
this list seems
to have it all! Long may it flourish.
Regards,
David Brister
