The number is "stamped on the underside of the hypoid housing flange" 
according to Triumph. In other words, it's found on a flat "boss" on the 
bottom of the "nose" of the diff. It can be seen from underneath, assuming 
years of crud doesn't cover the number.

For a Spitfire, FC (through Mk3) or FK (1971-on) were usually 4.11:1, FH were 
3.89:1. On a GT6, KC was usually 3.27:1 and KD 3.89:1.
