will a TR2-3 O/D tranny fit a later type?

Hi,
I envisage to drop my 4 synchro TR3B tranny for an OD transmission
taken from a earlier TR.
Can anyone tell me I there have been evolutions in the TR2/3/3A/3B
serie that would render the mating of an early transmision to a TR3B
impossible of difficult?
