List , I rebuilt my fuel pump and had the same problem of too much flow and
pressure. I tried all the solutions and the only one that helped was a
pressure regulator from NAPA. All the rest got too complicated too fast. I
set the regulator on 1 pound and all worked well except in prolonged idle
situations like tuning your carbs the pump would overcome the regulator and
send gas out the overflow. I know it sounds crazy but I tested the regulator
and it was fine. So dont have prolonged idle situations; well easier said
than done when working on the car. Also. I was very fearfull of the gasoline
on the manifold side of the engine. Since I had already spent more than I
should have on my restoration I elected not to have a fire and start all over
agaln. The final solution was to call and get a new pump. Problem solved
except what do you do with a better than average rebuilt pump? I did all of
this because I wanted that priming lever. It never ceases to amaze me what we
do for originality. Thanks, Paul M Schuessler PMSchuess@aol.com TR-3A
42469e with overdrive. Looks better than new. Drives better than new.
