Steve,

There is probably something wrong in your driveline,i.e. your drive shaft.
You can waste your time trying to balance your drive shaft, but the safest
and fastest way is to have a professional balance it for you.
And by professional, I don't mean the mechanic down at the Pep Boys.  Take
it to a drive shaft specialist. It may be that your u-joints are going bad
or that your drive shaft is slightly bent.
Either way this is comparativly cheap, considering the amount of damage
that this can cause.  Any time that you change u-joints or have the d/s out
for any reason, you change the balance slightly.  Over the years this all
adds up.  Ask them to do a dymanic balancing and have them replace the
u-joints for you, it should cost about $100 for both and the balancing.
