Gary,

Originality is always a complicated problem and is obviously very 
personal,but IMO the most effective upgrade on an early TR is to fit 
a rack and pinion steering.
I did this on my 3A over a year ago , the difference is amazing .No 
slop at all and much lighter.
I bought the kit from Protek in the UK . The original cooling fan and 
extension must be removed ( they supplied a new crank washer 
and short bolt ), also the direction indicators and horn push cannot 
be used unless you do some very tricky mods ,which I didn't .

NFI , just a very satisfied customer .
