For what its worth [with all due respect to Buffalo Springfield] one
simple method of restoration record keeping via software is to set up a
Quicken checking account an simply enter your expenses as you go. You
can establish whatever catagories you want and go into as much detail as
you wish. [Those of us who are anal-retentive Virgos find this process
somewhat therapeutic.]
