I thought perhaps some of those on the big list might be interested in
Mordy's comments. Since the solid copper gaskets seem to be somewhat
harder to make seal than the stock composition ones, his gasket sealer
must be good stuff.

For those interested... in head gasketing sealants.

I have been making Head Gaskets (solid copper) for several years now...
I have looked at MANY alternatives in sealants. From Hylomar,
Yammabond, RTV (spray and tube), Copper spray, Aviation Gasket Sealer by
Permatex.... Bottom line I tested many.

I now MAKE my own sealant for this application. It comes in a spray can
and has been track tested for two years now. If interested let me
know.

some caveats
1) Cleanliness but, don't necessarily have to be anal.

2) Use any sealant appropriately and NOT excessively.

3) Sealants will work if the mating surfaces are upto the appropriate
spec. With heads...it is crucial. In other less pressurized "flanges"
this is less critical.

4) Some engine builders seem to never have problems while others are
plagued with them.....
