TR-6 Carb Question

Hello listers,

I would like to know what type of product I can use to clean the outside of
my carbs. The carbs are still on the intake manifold and all the linkage is
still on. Another words I unbolted the manifold. That's it. The carbs are
lined with a layer of oil and I want to clean it all off before I bolt it
back onto the head. If I were to soak the carbs in gas would that cause a
problem? I don't plan on starting the car until spring anyway. Please let me
know.
