Sent the note below (now slightly modified) earlier today, but didn't see it
hit the List. Trying again...
Just took a pile of rust to the auto graveyard and saw a TR7 for sale. $300.
I don't know the first thing about a TR7 except it's one more than a TR6,
but thought I'd mention it in case anyone's looking for a parts car. Looks
like it's been sitting for quite some time - not at the junkyard as I think
they just recently got it - but it hasn't been on the road in quite awhile.
Comes complete with a 1994 Vicky Brit catalog, so there's a clue. Sorry, but
no OD (or do TR7s even have OD?). Does come with a Haynes manual though.
Odometer says 53K miles, but who knows?
Looks like there may have been some front end damage at some point and
there's a bit of rust around the headlite area. On the underside of the
bonnet, there's some rust where the reinforcing stays meet the sheet metal,
but didn't look too bad. Some around the rear wheel opening too. Took a
quick look under the car and didn't see any rust there, but it was
undercoated so hard to tell. Also, a couple of the tires were flat so it was
hard to see much underneath. I did pull up the carpet in the driver's side
footwell and saw no rust there (couldn't pry it loose all the way to the
firewall, so the tin worm's probably in there somewhere). The hardtop has
what appears to be surface rust, pretty much all over.
Don't know the Comm number (or even where to look for it). I did look, but
the only numbers I saw were in the left front corner... two small plates
with 19062 CG and T19827 CG.
A serious project here, but looks like it would be a good parts car at
least. I expect the $300 is negotiable. Car is located in north central
Connecticut at a junkyard called Leveille's, 96 Egypt Rd, Somers CT,
860-749-3705. NFI, naturally.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all...
