Joe, The fuel pump valves are held into their recessed area via light crimps in the housing. If you're sure the valve is just fine, then use a small punch to carefully bend the casting over the valve in 3 locations, about 120 degrees apart. Be certain that it's in the opposite way from the other valve before crimping. You have nothing to lose. Save the new pump for the future.
