My floors and sills were so rusty that I took them both out at the same time. I don't thing it mattered to the structural integrity of the beast because they were in such bad shape. I did leave the body on while I riveted the new pieces in place -- the chassis kept anything from moving. I will weld it all properly as soon as I lift the body off. YMMV.
