Perhaps some residual fluif in the pores of the aluminum/potmetal,
maybe some vaporous component of the fluif, but even greater likelihood of
the dreaded Rustoleum Grunge. A previous thread left unsolved the mysteries
of why Rustoleum frequently reacts badly to it's own primer when progressive
coats are sprayed within the time frame of about 3 hours to about 2 days (
depends on drying conditions.) I had thought that the
"Industrial/Professional" version of aerosol Rustoleum had overcome that
characteristic, but ironically today I have a couple parts in my attaché
case ( sprayed on sun. nite- Rusty's gloss black..) that I will be stripping
in our shop ( bead blaster). I suppose the only way to tell whether it is
the Grunge or a fluif problem is by how long it took to manifest itself-
the grunge forms in about 5-20 minutes after spraying, while the fluif
effect can take mush longer, and is probably dependant on the degree of
contamination on the affected surface... YMMV, of course.

My brake/clutch reservoir is due to be painted. I painted it years ago
with gloss black rustoleum. Within a short time it appeared to be like
crinkle paint and then began falling off. What does one paint them with that
stays on?
