It could be that the small reverse isdler gear is installed backwards.... or
the 1st Rev mainshaft gear is backwards. Ask me how I know.
Did you test the box with a 1/2 drill before installing?
Did it go into reverse on the workbench?
Have you tried letting the clutch out a little to spin the gear and pushing
lightly... don't try this too often?
Another angle is the gear selector. Have pulled the shifter up and "out of the
socket" and then right and back?
Occasionally, mine will not want togo into reverse in the garage,
partiucularly with the handbrake engaged. I then shift into 1st and back into
reverse... that clears it. Same procedure back in the 60s.
Sorry for all the questions.... but this is the way to do fault isolation.
