Hi Bill,
I'm not quite where you are yet, but since the grab handle mounts under the 
dash capping, the dash panel must be mis-fitted or the brackets that hold 
them on are mis positioned. 
Check them out....all you need to clear the glove box lid is 1/4".
I'm interested in how you'll resolve this since my grab handle and lid were 
fine when I disassembled them a couple of years ago.
