Hoping for good reports on the TR4, I took the big step and ordered my
airline ticket.
I arrive in San Antonio on Saturday August 19 at 8:35.
I'm trying to take this in bite-sizes with an unfamiliar car which is 38
years old.
SATURDAY and SUNDAY:
Do what needs to be done and then drive to either:
Waco and spend the night there and hook up with Jay Mitchell at the Waco
autocross on Sunday.
OR
Austin and spend the night there and drive to Waco and hook up with Jay
Mitchell at the autocross.
OR
Dallas and stay with Jay Mitchell and park the TR4 and ride back to Waco
with Jay.
Jay seems to think there may be some people at the Waco event who would be
interested in seeing the car. Under scenario three, they won't see it
there.
Any suggestions of a good place to stay in Waco or Austin? Prefer cheap,
clean, not upscale, but need a place where the car will be safe. I'd like
to get together with local Britcar and autocrossing netters for dinner
whichever town I wind up in. Open to suggestions here. Texas spokes club?
And if I do one of the first two, I have to know how to find the Waco event!
Sunday night is set either way. Dallas with Jay.
Monday night, looks like Joplin, MO is the place to be. Suggestions for
safe place for me and car? Where's the party?
Tuesday night, looks like Des Moines, Iowa. Suggestions for safe place for
me and car? Where's the party?
Wednesday night, if all goes well, car and I will be home in our own beds.
Well, shop, for the TR4.
I want to have fun on this trip, not trouble, so I don't want to set an
ambitious daily schedule.
