Sounds like the rear window demister switch.
Your brother needs an owners manual, too!
The owners manual has pitchers of things like that, & reveals what kinds of
oil go in different holes around the car.

My brother has recently purchased a really nice late model GT6. A 73 I
think. There is a switch in the center of the dash that is horizontal,
and located above the two gauges. The PO has replaced the original switch
with a cheap toggle switch.
Can anyone tell me what the switch is for, and are replacements
available.
