Michael Porter (and others?) is correct in stating the factory did not fit A/C
systems as
a line-fit or sales conversion add-on. I suppose the peculiarly British logic
that was so
common then (and still lurks today) is that if the UK had little need of an A/C
system,
much the same applied to the rest of the world.
AFAIK, all A/C systems were US dealer fit and were supplied either from the ST
main parts
warehouse or on a ship direct setup from the US manufacturer to the selling
dealer.
