Excellent! See, you just needed a bigger hammer: about 100lb! A press makes
ot so
un-dramatic!
Fear not, the circlip is a bugger , but armed with 3 narrow regular (flat tip)
screwdrivers
and about 3 hands (2 will suffice with difficulty), you can get it off.
Start near the opening of the c-clip and lift the edge up to clear a spline.
Then use the second
screwdriver to move the end forward out of the groove. Use a slightly larger
screwdriver
to keep it there. Have your helper hold the screwdriver so it doesn;t pop
free. Repeat for the next
spline Keep working it off this way. Eventually you will not need to work as
hard keeping
the clip from popping back into the groove.
Or buy the churchill tool from TRF. I would be glad to buy it from you
afterward at a discount
(because it is now a USED tool).
Talk to Brian at PowerBritish (britcars@powerbritish.com) about
his modified (longer life) 2nd gear bushings.
