List:
Noted with interest the link to the site about installing sills and rockers
in a 3. I'm at that point on the 4A I'm doing and wonder about a couple of
things.
Keep in mind that there is nothing there relative to the rockers thanks to
rust. What the PO put in was some stainless steel shaped to fit and basically
bondoed to makeshift sills. And I can't find pictures or diagrams to show me
what it looks like along the sides under the doors. So I'm guessing about
what to do.
My questions:
Are there any photos of what this area of the car should look like?
What are the connection points for the rockers to the....what?
Was there a 'flange' that went down at a 90 degree angle from the floor pans?
Or did the rocker attach just to the brackets that sit between the frame and
the floor? I see that the froint fender attaches to the front of the rocker
but what does the front of the rocker attach to? A flange like I described?
I have fiber panels that have a vertical lip on the top that runs the length
of the rocker. It seems to bump up against the underside of the sill and
prevent a tight fit. My plan is to just shave that lip off. Is it common to
have to 'modify' the new rocker panels to get them to fit?
On that 'PanelDoctor' site, there was a reference made that the 'sills extend
back to the inner rear wheel well'. It doesn't look like that would be the
same with the 4A. Is it?
I guess pictures would be best. Anybody know where to find some. (I have
Haynes and Bell).
Thanks.
