The shame of it all ...... I have a 77 spitfire at my garage. I pulled out
of my neighbors storage place last week. Been There since 88. Nice car with
all the parts there . Soft top and tonneau good ,no holes in floor pans or
rockers . Original paint -best I can tell Brookland Green (BRG) been spotted
with primer on the chips and surface rust one patch (Fiberglass) over the
passengers side rear wheel arch not sure if ding or hole. Also has a Factory
Hardtop. Weber carb and manifold set up. rod broken in number Three.

This really need a home but since it seems so sound I will ask a coupe of
questions in the event I elect to fix it up. The rod seems to have dropped a
bolt from the cap and hammered for a litttle while when it sheared the
second bolt and went bust. A little bit of skirt damage but no other serious
problem. since I'm a Big Triumph sort of guy. I'll throw this out to you that
have more experience with this 1500 sort of thing. The crank looks like it
will clean up. Given the History on the 1500 engine / crank I might elect to
install a 1297 I have here using the head from the 1500 that looks like new.
The 1500 engine seem to have had an r and r that reflects someone didn't get
the rod caps back on tight enough. I'm thinking to keep the cars originallity
(short of the carb) by turning the crank and saving the cars original engine.
Limit s or comments on this from your experience please. The body on this car
is is really sound. The frame is showing rust on the tailing drivers side but
no other place. Might need a frame section if any one has a good one other
wise I'll fabricate one. Don't have the time to do this soon so if anyone
wants to takle this contact me off line.
