Hi all,
My TR6 has H6 carbs installed on it. Unfortunately, they are the "never-dry"
(tm) version, meaning gas pours out the bottom anytime I pull the choke, and
just generally drip constantly when the choke is in.
I had them apart last summer and replaced all the o-rings (they already had
o-rings instead of the cork seals) and the weaping slowed, but the gushers
continued when using the choke. Over the winter, I took them inside for some
TLC. I had them apart, scrubbed all parts, and replaced all o-rings again, plus
all new springs (as the old ones were rusty and weak) Well now they are all
back together and leaking just as badly.
Can these things EVER be leak free? What's the secret to upgrading my
"never-dry" (tm) brand SUs to the more apealling "almost-always-dry" (tm)
version? The car runs horribly right now, black smoke billowing out the pipes,
won't idle, and the spark plugs are encrusted with carbon. This probably has
nothing to do with the leaking, but first things first.
