Hey - no jokes about the Big Dig*, okay???
* AKA "the Big Pig".
Obligatory quote: Hey, a billion $$$ here and a billion $$$ there, pretty
soon we're talking about some serious money!
Obligatory story... my home town passed an ordinance at town meeting (yes,
a real town meeting, and I go to all of them) that banned storage of more
than one unregistered car per property. It's clear that the major interest
is in the revenue and not the unsightlyness (sp??).
Anyway, I have two unregistered cars in my front yard, located on a busy
street and locals have had about a year to complain - none yet... that I'm
aware of. If I do get fined, I'll petition the town for a 90 day compliance
variance and we'll see what happens. After all, the cars were made immobile
prior to the ordinance. Had I known that the town was even considering such
a law, I would have spent more time dimantling them a while back.
Note: the law is specific that cars stored under roof are not to be
considered as non-compliant.
For you folks in NC, if your town passes such a law, consider building a
pole barn or some such. Just a thought.
There's more than one was to skin a cat.
With apologies to cats, of course.
regards,
rml
