Advice sought: Mounting fenders

I am certain that this topic has come up before, so feel free to respond off
the list.

My painter is getting close to finishing, and he is planning to paint the
panels off of the car, and then bolt them in place.  I am pleased with his
approach.

Is there any treatment, coating, or sealer that I should consider for the
mating surfaces of the fenders and body?
