Way back when I was rebuilding the Green Man (my TR4) I too
split the "NEVER-NEVER-SPLIT-THESE" calipers. Being a "poor-
because-honest" restorer, and essentially ignorant as to what I
though I could get away with, I attempted to do the impossible.
I found the right gastket at my local hardware store, in the
plumbing supplies section. I spread a thin layer of epoxy on the
caliper halves and then put them together torquing the bolts to
150'lbs (I think the epoxy may have been overkill).
That was 1986... I've had no problems with the brakes since...
That also includes some serious abuse autocrossing... Of course
the first few times I drove the car I was REEEEEEEEEEELLLLLYY
careful. Of course YMMV...
