True, to an extent!  The early Spitfire (Mk1-Mk3) did use the same glass as the
TR4-6 but with the MkIV and 1500 redesign, it changed.  Not only is the glass
different, but the frame no longer comes off the car (except maybe with the aid
of a hack saw).
