The Leyland Spitfire IV (as in Mk IV) Repair Operations Manual (a
sorry book, IMO) does say "The maximum stretch is 0.008 in (0.20 mm).
Do not lever against the stretcher" That is for stretcher S101 (which
is the same tool listed in the [Bentley] BL Workshop Manual for the
Triumph Herald 1200 1250 13/60 Vitesse 6 and Spitfire Mk1, 2, & 3
which gives the finger-tight plus one-half turn.)
