When I replaced the timing chain on my GT6, I scraped this material off and repainted. The thing I notice after the work is that the timing cover "sings" at some speeds - those big flat panels are resonating with engine vibration. I put some glue-on sound deadener (asphalt based) on, which helped some ... mostly I ignore it. The stuff does seem to serve a purpose. |
