I recently extracted the knobs. There is a pushpin somewhere on each of the
shafts. I used an Allen wrench to depress the pin and pull the knobs off.
Each extraction was preceded with application of the appropriate fluid
(fluif) - I used WD-40. However, I was only successful with two of the 4.
My aggravation overcame me. I called my preferred vendor of the big 3 and
ordered the 2 in question fro about $3-4 each. When they arrived and I had
them in my hand I cut off the two I couldn't dislodge. May seem too drastic,
but I just wanted them off so I could get the new switch plinth in place.

I have just recently obtained my second 75 TR6. As I have read the various
posting the last couple of weeks, I am somewhat embarassed asking the
following two questions.
1. How the heck do you get the various knobs (blower, defrost, heater,
etc)
off of the shafts? Do you pull them, turn them, or what. I want to replace
them with new ones but I just can't seem to get the old ones off.
2. I have Stromberg 175 carbs. In accord with what I have read, if the
dashpot oil is proper, you should feel pressure about 1/4 inch from the
plastic cap entering the screw on. I bought dashpot oil and added just a
little (not more than a teaspoon) and still couldnt visually see any peering
into the shaft. Anyway, I felt substantial pressure over and inch or so
from
the cap entering the mechanism. Can anyone give me usable information in
this regard.....thanks >>
