What might one check if his TR4 sputters at low engine speed. When I start
from stops and promptly after shifting is when the car will have that
strange sputter for lack of better word. It feels as if the ignition isnt
working properly at those moments. While not moving the car can be revved
up and down without any symptoms. Also if I give it good blip before
letting the clutch out it doesnt seem to do this.
One thing is that I have some strange electrical issue Im working out. I
almost want to say that at low engine speeds, since my ammeter shows a draw
Im not getting enough juice to give me a good spark. Im also using the
Crane XR700 electronic ignition system.
I have also been using a coil that needs a ballast resistor without the
resistor. This is because the car stalls with the resistor in line. The
sputtering is a new thing that seems to be getting worse. I orderred a new
coil from Crane. Maybe my coil is dying. Since the engine block gets
pretty warm is it a good idea to mount the new coil some place else or is
the temperature negligible?
Thanks for the help
