Before any more of you cut down your bushings, I encourage you to try and put
them in without modification. About a year or two ago, someone posted a good
set of instructions.

Summary of what I did, which was similar.

- Put the bushing is a cup of water and microwave it for 5 minutes
- put some lubricant around the hole in the body. I used KJ jelly because it
cleans up easy.
- shake the hot water off so you don't burn your fingers
- squeeze the bushing oval and start it in the hole, getting as much of the
groove started as you can
- take a small 1/8" screwdriver in the groove and continue pushing the bushing
in place
- use a larger screwdriver in the center of the bushing and rotate the bushing
as necessary to keep using the small screwdriver to get the bushing in place
- when it looks good on one side, go to the other side and use the small
screwdriver to pop out any section not all the way through

Using this method, the second bushing I installed took less than 5 minutes. As
to installing the throttle shaft again, I'll paraphrase what the original
instructions said - 'remember how hard it was to insert the bushings? You will
have to use force, but don't worry about the bushing popping out. It won't.'
