Is some one shorting you at the pump ? Or were you the guy with
the Viva??????
A long time ago we had a customer who kept all the bills and receipts
for gas and oil.Every fill was to the 1/10 of a gallon.He was impossible
to please and he came to us from ALL another shops in town and regailed
us with over an hour as to what he'd been through at the hands of all
these other crooks, some of whom had been in business for 20 plus years.
We told him we would do the best to improve his milage and took on the
work.We got the Vauxhall Viva running well as we could and off he went.
A few weeks later he returned and was
fairly pleased but sure better milage was obtainable, so we suggested a
small modification and said we cannot tell him about it as the prototype
we had was not for public consumption due to the gas companies getting
mad and would sue us,the only problem was the device needed
re-activating every 200 miles,so he had to bring the car back to us for
activation. So far so good......Sure enough he turned up at the next 200
miles and we took it in the shop for 10 mins and handed it back to
him........This was what we did.
Every time he came in we added 2 gallons to the tank.We also told him
that we could only activate the devise
on an empty tank. BTW, he was a member of some weired organizations ,
Flat Earth Society etc, etc.
So acording to him instead of 16 miles per, he was at 22 or so now! Was
he chuffed or what! He was our best commercial in town, you couldn't buy
this kind of indorsment. Unfortunatly the oil problems of the 80's
came and the business folded and I went truck driving in Europe. I
wonder what became of that guy and his little Viva........BTW the gas
milage was so low because he drove mostly in rush hour traffic in a
clogged up little town in England were 10 mpg and 3 mph adverage in
small cars was quite common.(Manual chokes an' all ).
So, ever tried another gas pump in your town? Oh, an' if you missed it
,,,,the devise was 2 gallons of gas every 200 miles or about every week
and a half.Best advertizing we ever bought.
