Well, not really opaque, since that would mean no light could pass
through! :-) According to Lucas, they are the model 488 lamp, and the
lenses are "circular; fluted" lenses, p/n 572715 (clear, usual fitment
especially in North America) or 573266 (amber).
Note that one can use the L594 lenses ("beehive" -- p/n 576108 for clear
and 576983 for amber) on the L488 base, but you CANNOT use a lens from an
L488 lamp on an L594 lamp base, as the bulb would stick out too far (L488
bulb is very much recessed into the socket).
And the retaining rim (572734) is interchangeable as well, although the
lamp rubber bases are not.
Probably more than most of you wanted to know about Lucas lamps on the
TR3. ;-)
