Sounds like we're on the same page. I finished priming #TS70503 over the
weekend, also using the PPG epoxy primer. I also shot 2 coats of paint on the
underbody and inside surfaces, including doors, fenders, hood, etc. Thanks to
several folks on this list, I was able to find the correct color match for
"signal red". I hung all the parts from the rafters (except the body, which I
turned up on it's side. I have a fan mounted on a boxed opening in back wall of
the room and a door on the front wall to vent. I warmed the room up first with
a Salamander type kerosine heater to about 65 degrees (outside temp was in the
low 50's).
Next, I plan to get the body back on the frame, hange the fenders and front
cap, mount the doors, then finish the final filler work on the fenders. With
any luck (and NO SNOW!!!) I'll be able to shoot the final coat of epoxy primer,
a couple good coats of finish primer, and paint in the next few of weeks. I've
used PPG DCC Concept urethane paint in the past, and found that it looks great
for a couple of months, then begins to shrink. At this point, imperfections in
the bodywork begin to show, that were not apparent previously. The PPG rep
suggested that to prevent this, the epoxy primer should be sprayed over the
body filler, then use the final (gray) primer on top of that before painting.
That's the route I'm taking so we'll see how it turns out.
