I think the general conscencus on the list is that the best Lucas replacement
alternator is one from a Ford Fiesta(made by Bosch). Supposedly is a good
fit(pulley and mounting wise) out of the box and has much better amperage(than
the ealier Lucas line of alternators) output. You have to take your existing
wire connector plastic plug off the wires and they will plug right into the new
Bosch. Bare in mind, I've not done this(yet) so input from someone who has
would be appreciated. I'll probably replace mine in the fall if my alernator
keeps acting up(after replacing several internal defective parts only to have
another fail a few months later).
