WD-40 is slightly flammable, the propellant is worse though (I think it's
propane!). In this case I'd say that it wasn't that dangerous as:
1. We have water in the distributor cap
2. Water does not burn
3. WD-40 (Water Displacement formula 40!) is being used to (gasp!)
displace the water!
4. We probably still have some moisture in the dizzy cap (which should
still not burn)
Personally, I would spray the WD40 in and then wipe it out, just to be on
the safe side. There shouldn't be too much sparking inside the
distributor cap anyway, unless it's cracked or there is a fault somewhere
in the system.
WD40 (the oil) is not very volatile either; to my knowledge petrolem
products burn best when in a vapor state, that's why we vaporize the
gasoline before burning it (carbeuration)
