<<In restoring the black painted suspension pieces on my Herald, I'm looking
for suggestions on what type/brand of paint is the most durable. It appears
the paint should have a semi-gloss finish is that correct? Thanks.

Tom
my local paint specialist sold me H/D (heavy duty) industrial black enamel
gloss after I took in a TR4 suspension arm in and found high gloss in a
protected area (covered part that hadn't seen the light of day for 35 years).
It has worked out well ..after cleaning parts and using Metal Prep (a kind of
mild acid/water solution) and then spray primering I dangle the part on a
wire and submerge the whole piece in the can and then hang it up to drip back
in the can a bit and then let it hang dry on a hook. Parts look fantastic.
Did the springs and everything else including the car frame (some parts don't
fit in can so use a brush).
This guy has restored about 5 cars over the years and has even won some show
awards...although he hasn't gotten started on his two TR3s he's had for
thirtysomething years.
Good luck
Carl
'64 TR4 since '74
ps; I can get exact name of paint if desired..
