Someone posted several weeks ago that if the oil press was excessively high the
bypass in the filter would allow unfiltered oil to circulate. I purchased a
high pressure oil pressure relief spring from TRF when I rebuilt my engine.
Cold idle pegs the oil press gage (scale reads to 80psi, needle overtravels the
scale a bit - 90? psi). The high oil press is in part a function of the high
viscosity oil (40 wt) that I use - the engine runs quite hot and my hot idle
pressure is 20 psi (less with a lower viscosity oil). I just have not gotten
around to installing an oil cooler.

Per my Bentleys manual the stock oil press relief for a GT-6 is 45 to 55psi.
At what pressure does the filter bypass activate? I have a 2.5L in my GT-6
(using the GT-6 filter/canister). Since the bypass mechanism inside the
canister appears to be the same between the GT-6 and the TR-6, I am assuming the
bypass pressure value would be the same for both.
