Thanks Tony, I've used nice punches, but knowing what they cost, I figured
I'd drill an undersized hole and file out the D-shape with my jewelers
files. UNLESS.... a lister has the correct punch I can borrow and pay
shipping both ways. For now though, the miniature switch I installed (5amp
at 120V) is fine.
First, however, I need to find a new solenoid. When I installed the OD, I
was very careful to check the solenoid amp draw to insure it switched off
the high amp pull-in current, which it did. I have run the OD quite a bit,
hot wired direct to a 12V source (alligator clipped when I was out on the
highway) to test out the recently acquired, but not rebuilt OD unit.
As I final wired the relay and switch, testing along the way, the ancient
(and rust pitted) solenoid finally gave up, just before I put the tranny
cover back on. The high amp circuit is gone. The 2 amp circuit pulls it
in, but only sometimes. The nice sharp clack when it pulls in is gone.
Does anyone have a spare, or know if TRF will be (heavily) discounting parts
at VTR? Two steps forward, one step backwards. Argggg!
