Someone asked about the Mid Ohio event. I was a participant and to me it
was the race of the century!

There were nearly 500 vintage race cars there, and the MG - TR race had a
grid of 73 cars, I think! Spectators said it was the most intense and hotly
contested event of the weekend.

Bill Warner of Jacksonville FL won in the ex Grp 44 ex paul Newman TR6.
Second was Kent Bain from Connecticut in a Spitfire. Third was a 69 Vitesse
driven by Ralph Thomas and fourth and fifth were Don Munoz and Les Gonda in
screaming MG's. I came in 23rd and never worked so hard for a 23rd place in
my life.

The paddock was full of neat cars. Richard Taylor drove up from Atlanta,
removed his windshield, and raced. What an adventurer! There was also a
Brit Car Show with maybe 100 Triumphs and 100 other cars. They let them lap
the track during lunch break.

A group known as FOT (Friends Of Triumph, all TR racers) partied in the
garage Sat night and gave out awards, told lies, and drank wine supplied by
Mordy (copper gasket man) Dunst from California. Bill Dentinger (brother of
professional commedian Ron Dentinger and twice as funny, also owner of the
famous Tornado) was MC. A choice poster was given out to participants.

No major shunts. All went home happy. Mid Ohio was so pleased at the
turnout (spelled $$$$$) that they want to make this an annual affair. If
they do, it's a must-do event for anybody in driving distance.
